How We Survived Winter

We survived another winter...Here is how we did it.
The little guy played in an indoor baseball league...And he made sure to dress the part.

We also watched X play basketball for a million Saturdays in a row....and had the best time doing it!

The hubs and I met up with our good friends for a great weekend in Chicago.

Our current baby turned FOUR! Wowza! How do they grow up so quickly?!

I got to help this first grader and twenty-five of his classmates roller skate in gym class.
Let's just say that the extra PTO money for the helmets and wrist guards was well spent...as at any given moment there were more children on the floor then there were standing...and yet all of the children seemed to be having the time of their lives! Go figure.

The number of kids in glasses count rose to 2...as this one received his first pair of what he likes to call, "Spectaculars!"

This one came home from school one day with broken spectacles and a broken face...and a curious little smile about how it happened.

I left them unsupervised for 30 seconds and this happened. Of course, right!
What could go wrong with this genius plan?!

Lego Ninjagos have taken over the house.

X's basketball season wrapped up with an awesome awards night!
A million weeks of basketball ....and we were truly sad it was over. Who knew!

This baller got all hyped up for awards night.

We made it to a St. Patty's parade.

These two love them some good parade candy.
Come on, they can't take it from strangers...
but taking candy from people soaked in green beer seems totally appropriate. Right?

This one has been gearing up for warmer weather and perfecting his swimming skills.

The back float is not necessarily his thing...

...but he is all over the deep end jump!

This little cutie stopped by for a visit while her momma was off choreographing the local high school musical. Ruby Grace, if you ever run away from home, you can come live with us. :)

The Pitman boys convinced their parents to drive them out from Cincy for a weekend.

Despite chilly temperatures the kids played outside most of the weekend and had the best time, of course! These little jokers left close to 14 lbs. of dirt in my bath tub...which seems about right. Ha!

Lastly, this one learned to tie his own shoes!!!

Wow! Be still this mommy's heart!
We now have a six year old, first grader that can tie his own shoes and spike up his own hair. Ha! Funny, because he now has a mother that finds herself tempted to march him right back to the Christ Hospital in Mt. Auburn, Ohio, wrap him in his PBK baby blanket and rock him. Geez, apparently I turned into a sap over the winter. Ha!

Valentines

OK, so maybe I didn't crochet a shark costume for X's first grade musical, but the boys and I did make some cute valentines for their friends for heart day. I figure it all balances out right?!

Happy Valentine's Day!

P.S. I'll be totally on top of that costume making by the time the second grade musical rolls around. Well, maybe...HA!

"Look Mom.."

"I have a cantaloupe for a head!"

So the hubs suggested tonight that there might be a village somewhere missing our youngest child. Ha!

Based on recent, shall we call them "max-ccidents," I think the hubs might be right.
God love him, Lord help us!

P.S. I call this little snapshot Moosey's Gary Busey look :)

Playing Catch Up

Long time, no post!
Here's what we have been up to in the last few weeks....

Chris and Max did a little show and share at preschool...Chris brought in a truck for Max and all his little classmates to explore. Then he gave Moosey a ride home after school. I am not sure what Max liked better...having Daddy at school with a truck or the door to door transport in a big rig?! Ha!

Our good friends came out from Cincy for a weekend of Hawkeye football ...They were just in time to witness the downward spiral of the 2010 Iowa football season :(
We still managed to have, absolutely, the best time despite it all!

We traveled home to Cincy for Thanksgiving. While we were there we got to celebrate our nephew's second birthday with a little glow golf, bowling and monkey cakes (of course!)
In mid-December Max and Sawyer performed their holiday program with their little friends from preschool. They both did a great job! These two make quite the Hummer duo!

And...
In the past few days our house has been filled with holiday activities. Max and Xavier both worked on little goodies to give their classmates at their holiday parties. Max made bath soaps filled with fun Christmas toys. Xavier went with candy canes for his buddies and diligently labeled each one with a gift tag. Even Chris got in on the action, and hand wrote over a 150 Christmas cards to various people in the trucking world. I got to serve hot chocolate to X's school while his principal read them, The Polar Express. Fun, I know! So of course, I wore my most appropriate elf outfit and tried not to feel like a dork. Ha!

Which brings us to this morning....the first day of winter break!
And what's for breakfast?
Christmas Sprinkle Pancakes, of course!

Weekend TV Appearance

So these little ditties just showed up in my inbox....

Apparently, we (myself and the some of the usual suspects from the Hummer crew,) made it on the small screen this weekend. Ha!

Nice expressions right?! Ha! This cracks me up!!!

Were you watching? If you were, you would know that Michigan State received a thumping... 37-6.
 Undefeated? Ha!...Well not anymore, Spartans.

...And since it was Halloween weekend, Herky showed up in his Captain America costume....I think we have Stanzi, Mr. Americanzi to thank for that!

Ha! Now that is good stuff! Way to go Hawkeyes!

Tagged

Someone tagged Moosey's carpet with gang symbols in black crayon last night....Hmm, the suspect list for this crime is very short... And oddly enough, so are the actual suspects :)

DHTC, First Days

Here's a little something fun...

Chris' First Day, June 2005

X's first day, October 2010
Who knew five years could fly by so quickly?!
